20th June 2005 - anticipation and fulfillment

Yes, this is it, he’s coming home! My anticipation knows no bounds!

I was rudely awakened this morning by the phone ringing at some ungodly hour. When I managed to struggle from my bed to answer it, it turned out to be Colin, frantically trying to catch me before I set off for work. He’d left his precious medication here for his eyes and needed me to post it back to him urgently. He’s recently had cataract operations in both eyes and needs antibiotics and other stuff. It was all neatly packed away in my fridge. What he didn’t realise was that I was scheduled to work at home today so I didn’t need to be up anything like that early.

It was hot and sticky in the bedroom and I realised with misery that I’d never get back to sleep after jumping out of bed so quickly. Ah well, I may as well get up and get on with work – after all it must be easier to work at the crack of sparrows before the heat builds up.

So, I was at my desk at 7.30am working and my mobile jumped off the side with a text message. It was DM saying he was just leaving Le Mans and would get home as quickly as he could. Since then, I’ve had three phone calls with updates on progress and am expecting him back here any time now! Hurrah!

Something tells me that we’ll both be very happy to see his bike back in the garage and him ensconced in a comfy chair. I know I will be.

There’s a meal to prepare and a bottle of wine to open before he arrives….oh and the little matter of making myself look decent as I have walked around looking like a tramp (of the smelly sort rather than the vampy sort) since he left.

So now I have the exigent task of doing all of the things in the above para before he gets here. Somehow I don’t think I’ll make it.

Nope – just as I typed the last sentence he knocked on the door, tired but fine. He’s had a beer, a pint of water and a look at pbase so he’s fulfilled and just to have him back, I am too!

Last year Patti and Sally were posing for me and you'll be pleased to note that my gorgeous cooker now looks a bit better than it did in this pic!

Ray - after the 400 mile ride home, (320-ish miles solo as I'd lost my 'wing-man') I think I look suprisingly un-knackerd!

You've captured that "knackered by long journey" feeling pretty well here!

Oops, sorry! :o)

Hope the heat didn't affect the tyres out there ;-)
