25th May 2005 - Seoul Dancing...

I know, I know I sound like an old whingebag…..

I have been tonight to a Korean Buddhest Monk restaurant in old Seoul – it certainly wasn’t full of westerners so one has to imagine it’s pretty authentic. It was 100% vegetarian and the dancing was 100% Korean.

I know I whinge on about being away from home but as always it has been an honour and a pleasure to experience some of my host country’s hospitality.

This amazingly beautiful woman was one of three who performed a number of Korean folk dances for us and the other guests at the restaurant. I did ask if it was put on for the ‘westerners’ but was told ‘No, it’s an every day feature of life in this place.’

We had a fabulous (vegetarian Buddhest Monk) meal, followed by drinks in our hotel – nice but out of town. I am exceedingly pissed on red wine and it’s now 2.30am and my body clock thinks its 6.30pm. I have been invited to a colleague’s room for the European Cup Final and I am seriously considering it despite having been awake now for more than 48 hours without sleep.

I must be mad.

DMs advice is lots of water then bed. He’s right of course.

It’s always the same – I love the culture, I love the people but I wish I could sleep with DM.

My friends and colleagues are charming, my hosts are impeccable and my world would be complete if it had David in it.

Life’s a bitch!

Last year I posted my worst pic in ages...two years ago, after I'd posted this pic a psychotic woman asked if it was a portrait of her.....make of that what you will..

Her hands and face look so graceful and expressive. What was served?

Have a great time there. I wonder why she has a pencil sticking out of her ear ?

You ate a vegetarian Buddhest monk?

I knew you would find Korea more pleasing than you thought. Too bad the company couldn't spring for David's airfare and accomodations.

Looks like she's getting the band ready for the next note.
