20th September 2004 - a heart shaped bruise for the Jeannius

A year of Photo A Day is a great achievement by anyone’s standards. So many eager beavers fall by the wayside of real life. The Jeannius has made it through the year.

When she started, we (DM and I) thought she looked…..er well, a little bit bonkers, with that crocheted hat and mad hairdo and the starey-eyed face that looked out from her profile page. We were, of course, proven right!

Jeanne has done so much for the PBASE community, pulling together the Photo of the Day gang with her enthusiasm and wit – let’s face it, who doesn’t hanker to have her index page back when you click on an interesting pic in the meta-gallery only to discover it’s someone who went to a park one day, took a load of photos then posts one a day….not my idea of the challenge I must say.

Her last day of 366 – let’s not forget the leap year here - is today. We’ve all shared her energy, drive and life for the last year and I for one feel privileged to have met her.

In fact, meeting her has turned into one of the great joys of my life. She’s proven such a great friend to me. We talk and talk on the phone, sharing hopes dreams and disappointments with one another as though we’d known one-another all our lives. I know I can say anything to her and she’ll respect my point of view even if she thinks it sucks. There have been days when I’m blue and she says ‘are you at home, I’ll call you now’ then the phone rings and it’s her with her special brand of cheerfulness and fire. I appreciate that so much. More to the point, meeting her and the rest of the gang in NYC in March transformed my life.

She is my friend.

I wanted to commemorate her year and decided to do an EC song – when I got home from work I had a jiffy bag waiting for me from Shazbop and inside was the new EC album (the delivery man). When I saw the track list I decided to do this – a ‘Heart-Shaped Bruise’ for my friend who has helped my heart heal from its years of bruising while we’ve known one another over the last year.

Go Jeanne – you really rock!

BTW - see the song here!

Having admired Jeanne and her contagious zest for life from afar for what now must be almost 12 months, I can understand why you love her so much. I sometimes have a look through her pages (but haven't been able to post anything because there is no comments page!) and just adore the self portrait page. But don't forget, Linda, she is lucky to have met you too.
