We woke up early this morning. DM was aching from his 200 mile drive on my 'custard' (Custom Cruiser - a Yamaha Virago 535cc) which I have just sold to a friend down here in Cornwall. As I'm not allowed to ride it (hence the sale of it) because I failed my test and never plucked up the courage to have another go. He had a sore shoulder so was awake early and then he woke me and I switched my brain on, started worrying about work and that was the end of my sleep. We were up so early the bread wasn't ready (it was on an overnight programme in the bread maker).
When I came downstairs to put on the toast, I noticed this photo opportunity. This grass is growing in the gutter of our outhouse and has been begging to be photographed since we arrived but this morning, with the rain clinging to the tips of the blades, I couldn't resist the photo. I was not even dressed when I was outside setting up my tripod in my dressing gown much to the bemusement of the neighbours.
The weather forecast was for sun across the whole of the British Isles yet we still woke up to rain. Much more of this and I will start to believe DM is a rain god as he claims!
Our plan was to go to Liskeard this morning and get some keys cut for the house so I won't have to sit and wait for DM again because we only have one key. We were going to get new dog tags for the babes too because Rosie has lost hers and Archie's says 'Ferguson' still - that's my married name and I don't use it any more. Guess what? We forgot the key we needed so went home empty-handed, well except for the pasties for lunch and the other bits and bobs we accumulated on our mooch around the town. I suspect the charms of Liskeard will take a long time to diminish.
On the way home, the weather started to brighten and we saw the sun. it was glorious. We saw the sea from the house for the first time too because it was so clear. So what did we do? We got to work digging out our hedge and replanting with more interesting stuff. It looks so good but we are exhausted now. We're looking forward to more sun tomorrow but tonight, as the sun set, we made our way up onto the moor, watched the mist rolling around and took some photos. Soon I will do a gallery of the moor.....when I have a few spare moments to process some photos!
