crock of gold?

In a working day that started at 7.30am and ended at 11pm I managed to sneak a short break to pound out a few lengths at my swimming pool. Next door to my health club is this 'lake' - well actually a big-ish pond and as I drove towards it the quality of the light was amazing - all the stormclouds and low, winter sun.

I knew there would be a few ducks around and also knew that I'd never find anything at all attractive to photograph in the town nearby where I was going, my destination for the afternoon and evening so I stopped to take a photograph. As I stepped out of the car, it started to rain and, almost by magic, a rainbow appeared. Perfect.

Is there a crock of gold at the end of it? Well yes, if you regard money as the ultimate goal. The rainbow's end is over London. If I was prepared to work in Central London I could make a huge crock of gold BUT I can't face the city each day. It's fine once in a while for an evening or a day out but who wants to expose themselves to all that pollution, competitiveness and rush every day? Not to mention rubbing shoulders with thousands of commuters. Certainly not me. I can't wait to get away completely.

It's funny, the weather has been turned on its head from yesterday....foul foul start, but gorgeous later. Shame my only sight of this wonderful stormy dramatic weather was from my car while driving towards a darkened room!

Wonderful! You have you captured the golden colours of the landscape and the peacefulness of the lake very well, and the rainbow is just amazing! Gives the photo a very dreamlike quality :)

Oh my gosh, this is beautiful. The fall colors are stunning, the sky is gorgeous and WOW! You captured a rainbow. Fantastic picture!

I know what you mean about the commuters getting off the train at Waterloo (and I'm sure the other stations). I'm glad I work from home now, even though I tend to work a lot more than 8 hours a day. This is a great late fall photo. But try not too work too many late nights.

This is really pretty. Not only do you have the rainbow, which makes it an added bonus, but the lake is gorgeous, the warm colors, the reflection, disturbed a bit by the movement of the ducks...Just overall a very soothing photo, in what was apparently a very hectic day for you. Nicely done!

I love the gentle water and the duck's wake.
