luscious roses

I'm just a poor soul who can't afford to go splashing out on lavish cut flowers for my home. Once in a blue moon, I buy a bunch of chrysanths for colour and because they last 3-4 weeks if you look after them nicely. If I'm really feeling extravagant (rare as I'm so tight) I'll buy lilies - the heady scent beguiles me.

It's a rare occasion indeed that anyone else ever buys me flowers (hint, hint David).

On Wednesday night I was presented with a bouquet including dahlias, lilies, chrysanths, stocks and roses - how exciting. Moreso because I was told it was because I had the vision to make that event work. There were many times over the recent weeks when I really wished I'd not bothered as the blood, sweat and tears of the event just about took away my will to live. Nonetheless, it was impossible to stop the machine rolling once it had started. So whether or not I wanted to, I had to keep going and keep the team as motivated and fired up as me. They were so valiant and extraordinarily devoted to making it a success, it was humbling to watch them. I didn't think it was me who deserved them but I accepted them graciously anyway.

I came home from work today and realised just how beautiful the flowers actually are (yesterday I was home in the dark and too tired to take them in properly). The roses are 'real' roses - not those silly, tiny buds you often see. I just adored the creamy sexy texture of the petals so decided to try my close-up lenses on a cut flower for a change.

I'm kinda pleased with the way it's turned out! Oh and we've already started planning next year's event so, however much we all suffered in the build-up to this year, we want more!

Goddess is a state of being. It can run in families, but is not a prerequisite.
I would have to meet you to confirm!

...if you're a Goddess, does that make me a Goddess too, or just the little sister of a Goddess?!!! Jan XX
