The weekend feels longer if you go out on a Friday - that's the new theory and we're sticking to it.

Tonight we braved the stifling heat to go to Reading for a meal in Chronicles - a really fab little restaurant a bit off the beaten track and air conditioned so a definite bonus there too. The restaurant was completely empty, only three other tables occupied. Even with the aircon on full blast we didn't have much of an appetite though so we paid up and had a stroll around the town centre and along the Kennett and Avon Canal where it runs through the Oracle. It was VERY busy and surprisingly good.

We got the train back, walked up the road home and were just settling down in the loungers in the garden when BANG the firework display from the RMA started at their passing out ball. We sat in our deck chairs and watched their huge fireworks display behind our house as if to welcome us home!
