Until I started seeing David I had absolutely no interest in VWs at all. Now, I am sucked into the 'let's spot a bus/beetle/karmann ghia' game as all his previous women have been before me(!!)

I can now converse on type 1s, type 2s and the rest with aplomb - I even know the difference between rat look and cal look for my sins.

This 1303(!) has been very carefully 'rat looked' but what I can't understand is why....I just don't see why anyone would want to drive round in something looking so tatty. To me, it's a bit like deliberately wearing holey, dirty clothes or never emptying the bins in your house, just letting them overflow forever. I just can't see the point. David says it's so people think you are driving a pile of junk and with your big tuned-up engine you can burn people up at traffic lights and whiz past them on the motorway and they're left thinking 'what happened there?'

Oh boy, do I sound VERY old? I've just trashed grunge and rat look in one go! Is this the slippery slope to brushed nylon slippers and a crimplene dressing gown?
