This hole has been in my kitchen wall for nine years. It was made on the day I moved in and the gas board condemned all my gas plumbing then cut me off. The plumber who carried out the remedial work made the hole and there it has remained since.

My house is my pride and joy. I loved it when I walked through the door on the first day I saw it and have cherished it ever since. I've never compromised on anything - each room has been lovingly restored to its former glory. It's taken me nine years to save for the kitchen of my dreams which is being started today.

The wall is going to be knocked down so two rooms will become one huge kitchen. I'm so excited - It's amazing to invite someone into the kitchen who hasn't seen the room before and watch their eyes light on the hole....when it's gone, it'll be really strange.
