Phase 2 is underway. It’s the key part for us – a new kitchen will rise out of this and will hopefully become the heart of our home. There is a long way to go before we get to that though. The rest of this must come down before new foundations can be dug as the old ones weren’t substantial enough for a modern build. Then after it’s built and made water tight, the wall on the right will come down and make one big, open space. It’s going to be fab.

In between now and then there will be lots of takeaways (good job there is a chippy and a Domino’s nearby), many barbecues and the rest of our meals will probably be IP one-pot wonders.

I’ve spent my day today relocating the hen house and clearing the patio to make way for the barbie. Tomorrow is a big, important day!
