I have come home from a long, hard day at the coal face to find we’ve no hot water and at 6.45pm we’ve no realistic possibility of getting a meal for at least an hour and a half. DM decided to go and exercise the dogs so I could get on with preparing a meal. Trouble was, I was dirty (and not in a good way) – paint spattered, dusty and generally very grimy so I decided to wait while our precious oil ran our precious boiler for an hour so I could get clean before food. While I sat on the sofa feeling like a zombie, waiting, I opened a pack of pistachios and started scoffing. Well, in my defence, it felt like a long, long time since lunchtime.

There has been nothing photogenic in my day whatsoever so here are the empty shells from the pistachios and, however cheesy, they make a good metaphor for my day.

PS not bad in the sharp dept for hand-held at 100mm eh?
