Well, I’m not sure about liquid gold as a subject, although given that I’ve had a day of chemistry – making metal melt is quite a common subject in our lectures after all - but the photo looks as if it’s got it in so that’s that.
We had a friend over to stay last night and a very jolly evening was had by all. We were discussing music and she mentioned the Clash. I showed her this photo and started talking about my gig photos again, especially in the light of her recent trip to see the Ian Dury film and my photos of an Ian Dury gig from 1980. I insisted that DM went into the loft (poor soul) to get down some enlargements of shots I took of the great man to show Anthea.
Once again, I am kind of annoyed at myself for not DOING SOMETHING with these photos and negatives because they are good and they are unseen by the masses.
The trouble is that they are all on film so are not easy to look at given that I don’t have many of the original prints because stupidly when the photos were originally printed, I had them in albums that over subsequent years people (friends obviously, not just random strangers) plundered for the best ones. So, most of the good prints are gone and the neg scanning process is enough boredom to make me lose the will to live. Especially with my notoriously short attention span.
Commercial scanning companies are either too low res or too expensive for the task, especially as I am a poor student….not to mention that I’d have to let these “ancient” treasures out of my sight to get them done in this way.
Nope, I’m just going to have to knuckle down and scan them myself if I’m going to evince them for others to see. So, the world may have to wait another few years for them to be uncovered and exposed to the light again.
Last year I was being resourceful and finding myself work - shame I can't carry on with this work - it's something that's only feasible on weekedays and I'm no longer free on weekdays.
