On the face of it, the poor birds in our garden look as though they’ve been neglected of late. However this is not the case, it’s only these sunflower feeders that are empty. Ever since the beginning of our “big freeze” I’ve been loading up the bird tables with food, pouring them fresh water each day and defrosting the water several times a day. They’re not going hungry or thirsty. Their buffet may be cold but it’s nonetheless heaving with food.
These feeders looked great in the garden centre when I bought them. They were a strong, vibrant yellow and have looked very cute throughout the summer in my flower borders, giving a bit of extra interest and a new feeding station for finches and tits to catch a meal.
It’s a shame they’ve turned out to be nasty rubbish….the colours have faded, they’re as brittle as a brittle thing so when I pull them out of the ground to fill them up, they snap. I’ve been duped into buying useless crap and it’s not a nice feeling. Now I get to chuck things in landfill….
GGgrrrrrrr…….. can you tell I’m really pissed off?
