Janet didn’t like this shot when she saw it on the back of the camera because the bouquet isn’t straight but I was thrilled to bits and very excited when I came into the kitchen today and found this bouquet tucked into the handle of a new kitchen unit. It just thrilled and tickled me that we’re now pretty close to my big day and things are moving on a pace.
The flower colours and styles in this bouquet are close to what I’m having on the day – clearly flowers are seasonal so there will be some differences and Janet is also going to try to ensure that as many as possible of the flowers she uses are of British origin.
In style terms, the bouquet I’m going to have is less formal and more “wild”. Some of it may even be flowers & foliage from our own garden – now wouldn’t that be something?
We’ve been deliberating over colours, looking at my dress to see what combinations go well and discussing blooms. That’s around a trip to a local National Trust property for a wander around and a look at the life of a bunch of toffs from Tudor times! One thing that never fails to surprise me is how much we’ve grown since then. Their elaborate beds are simply too short for modern humans, either toffs or otherwise.
I’ve just tried to google how much human height has changed over the period since 1500ad but there is so much unrelated info and a quick wander through the first two pages of stuff hasn’t revealed anything I can quickly pick out and use. Anyway, suffice to say if we wanted to sleep in one of those beds, it’d have to be in the foetal position because otherwise it’d be hanging your feet over the end of the bed.
It’s been another lovely day in the home of Mingay/Alstead (soon to be Mingay)…but that’s a no-brainer because Janet and John are always fabulous company.
I’m so thrilled Janet offered me her skills as a florist – somehow I don’t think I’d have got anything so personal from anyone else.
