19th April 2009 - reaching out

OK – I know the photo’s cack but I still like it. It’s the same theme as yesterday, although executed less well because the day was more windy so when I took my camera outside for a grab shot, nothing would stay still long enough for a sharp shot!

Still, it’s another one about nature unfurling its hands and letting go. It’s a great, if rather cheesy, analogy for my own world. Like the Acer in this shot, I’ve had my hands clenched into fists for so long my hands have been hurting. Now, like the Acer, I’ve worked out that if I unfurl my own fingers then I’ll experience the wind, the sunshine and the rain and all of that is good. I’m getting to touch things that are important to me again.

I’m glad to report that even though we thought our car had died and left this earth for the big car scrap yard in the sky on Thursday, we were rescued by the kind and generous hearted Malcolm (near neighbour and friend). He came along, just like the cavalry in a good Western movie, did a little running repair then took it off to his workshop and fixed it properly for us.

His prompt action meant that I could get to work easily this weekend, which would have involved a walk of 3-4 miles, a tortuous bus ride and a total “commute” time of about four hours instead of an hour.

We reached out to Malcolm and he grasped our hands and pulled us to safety and back to a place where we can go about our business. Hurrah for Malcolm.
