13th April 2009 - man in a hat

Over the bank holiday weekend, we’ve done very little in the way of constructive stuff but in the grand scheme of things I don’t suppose that makes us any different from anyone else.

Today has seen the climax of my own particular laziness with an event completely unheard-of in my life. Colin was up, out of bed and in our lounge before I’d even set foot out of the bed this morning. This is something of a miracle (for Colin) although I have noticed a new-found earliness to his activities. For me, it’s another demonstration of my new-found willingness to be rather than do, if you see what I mean. As for Colin being so sprightly - maybe it’s old age!!!!!!! (He might just kill me for that one.)

So, I didn’t lose any friends by not being “the perfect hostess”, I managed to hang onto my friend and my man too even though I didn’t do anything spectacular.

Colin did go home with half a dozen freshly laid eggs and a big bag of spinach and chard for his supper, which were declared “bloody lovely” when teamed with some smoked haddock for his dinner last night. That’s good.

David dons this hat for a variety of reasons, including both rain and sun. It’s his chicken rounding-up hat, his log-collecting hat and his mooching about hat. I think, despite its slight silliness, it makes him look rather sexy. He’s had it on today because the clouds have burst open and we’ve had rain for the first time this weekend. As we left Colin at the station, it was completely bucketing down. I reckon that was fairly good-going for the weekend though.
