Phewie!

Allihies, Co. Cork

Flehmen: the flehmen response is a particular type of curling of the upper lip in ungulates, felids, and many other mammals, which facilitates the transfer of pheromones and other scents into the vomeronasal organ, also called the Jacobson's organ. It's mating season for the mountain-sheep, hence the stance. The red markings are 'raddle' a wool friendly type of marker, to identify the owners of the sheep.
