I had an experience there back in the 1980's. While in grade school, as a small child, I knew this young girl named Debra Stein. Didn't see or hear much about her after about the 3rd or 4th grade. This was way back when in Rochester, N.Y. I was living in N. Tonawanda after quitting a job with a carnival...Think it was called field day. Anyway, I visited the 412 Diner for the first time. As I was having coffee, I glanced up and saw a picture hanging on the wall with a caption that read...EAT HERE, AND DIE IN THE ALLEY!!! It was signed by D. Stein. I asked the waitress if that happened to be Debra Stein from Rochester NY, and she said yes it is, and I'm her best friend. I finally did end up meeting Debra...Wow, she never changed!!! Hope if anyone knows her, Hope she's doing well. Her old friend Tom from School # 34 in Rochester say's hello

My mother and Aunt ran the diner from 1959-1976. My dad and I would have dinner there every other week when my mom was working. He would get up at 4am just to start making the home-made fry cakes that they sold. I would work summers and if they got busy I would help out. Great memories. I remember Millie - Her last name was Brant.

This dilapidated building was a trailer that fed the workers on the Erie Canal. They would haul it around. The ceiling has a dome ceiling of wainscoating. I WENT IN THERE ONE TIME AND SUSIE was waitressing you had to tell her what kind of eggs you wanted or she would bring you raw eggs in a bowl and then stirred them with her finger. The mafia guys used to eat in there too. The house behind it was owned by a retired teach named Mrs. Smith.

can remember back to the 50's when my Mom worked here. Place where every man in town went for their 10 cup of coffee. Great to see it in this gallery.

Mmmm.....corned beef hash, eggs sunny side up, and toast covered in jelly, while totally baked from drinking all night long back in 93-94. I miss the 412, and Ma Mitch's tacos from down the street :)
