Luna moths are rarely seen due to their very brief (1 week adult) lives.
As with all adults in the Saturniidae family, the adults do not have mouths and do not eat.
They emerge as adults solely to mate. They are commonly seen at night.
The caterpillars exposed to short periods of light produce daipausing (dormant) pupae.
When the caterpillars are full-grown, they begin to wander.
