Most interesting! I was unaware of the presence of this type of spider in your location. We welcome other comments re: the geographical distribution of this spider.

I found an Arrow-shaped Micrathena on August 30, 2011, in Rochester NH. It was making a web in a juniper bush, in front of an apartment building.

Hi Ken: I believe this spider is found from the US East westward to Texas and Nebraska and to my knowledge is not a threat to humans (see this link for more information:http://bugguide.net/node/view/2020)

Found this spider today in Ithaca, NY. This is the only site I've been able to find that has name and pic!
Is it native to NY, harmless to humans?
Thank you.

Found this spider today in my garden.. captured many shots of it from all angles.. It is remarkable to see and watch it kill its prey which I got to witness.. First time seeing this type of spider.. thanks for the awesome pics on the site to get its ID from..
Will be back to the site as I am always looking for new insects etc.

We found one today in WV. Your pictures helped us identify it. My 7 year old daughter pointed it out.

Excellent photos! I found two spiders today that I could not identify... was out watching the triangulate orb weaver/arrowhead spider.. it is wild! I have never seen a spider with the markings or color like this! also found a Micarthena Sagittata... or the other arrowhead with the spines today as well. It was on a chair near the woods... was really curious with that do to the spines on the abdomen. Glad to know what they are now!!! Thank you so much. I will definately make reference again to your sight. These pictures are beautiful!!
Maybe I will get over the spider fear!!!
