Epilogue: This is what Scott has to say about his race and weight after completing the race for the 11th time this year:

I weighed in this year at the Badwater starting line at 231#, which at
5'10" and no membership to Gold's Gym, qualifies me as 'larger'. I
dedicate Badwater finish 11 for all those 'larger' folks who, for whatever
reason, find themselves looking a bit 'super-sized' when standing at the
starting line.
