Dueling Drakes

Lewiston, ID

Linda and I stopped off at one of the local gathering spots for
waterfowl to see who was in town this week. While we were shoot-
ing photos of Wood Ducks and Mallards, there developed a conflict
between two Mallard drakes. I was able to capture some of the
action, although due to it being a cloudy day and not having the
long glass with us, the shots are not contest material. This
one is the best of them and, with a Serlingesk flourish, we submit
it for your consideration. P.S. We are processing these shots here
in Asotin and the monitor here is not technology from this century.
If you could let us know if photos are too light or too dark it will
give us some baseline information so that we can give you all the
best viewing possible.

I think the image has an almost abstract feel to it, I like it!

This is a good catch. Overall the image is a little dark but not too bad for a cloudy day. The bigger problem is the contrast. The darks are black and the highlights are blown out. So the first thing I would do is dial the contrast back a bit. It's probably going to make this image look flat but hey, we all get that on a cloudy day.
