Eggs Over Yuma

Yuma, AZ

Well.. we knew it was going to be a mad house, but geeze! If you are curious, www.eggsoveryuma.com
We took the 2 1/2 yr old grandson, and Trenity to this egg hunt today. There were thousands of eggs on the ground already, then the helicopter came overhead three times and dropped more eggs. An advertised total of 40,000 eggs where there. Divided into three seperate age groups, up to a max of age 12. All the kids hit the field at the same time and I am sorry to say the grandson didn't get a single egg, even with mom's help. The other kids and parents were pushy and rude and just stormed the field like you wouldn't believe. There were great prizes, and even cash in some of the eggs. People in this town seem to go insane for anything of value.

I heard on the radio after it was over, how the organizers will talk about how to improve for next year. I think they were overwhelmed as well. Some people had grocery bags half full of eggs.. yet some kids had none or only a couple.

That being said, it was an adventure and I'm enjoying my visit with the daughter and two grandkids. Maybe later on I'll post a couple of the kids you haven't seen yet.

I think all churches have a heart for children but the first priority should have been the safety and security of the children, thank God nothing bad happened but the church needs to be better prepared and organize before the get them selfs involved in other mayor activities, I hate to say this but what they provided on thta saturday was an opportunity for a child to be taken or hurt.
Pray for wisdom. Quality over Quantaty

I just wanted you all to know that the church had a big heart for the children and wanted so bad for them to have a good time. I am disappointed in the fact that a few had to spoil it for the rest. I dont blame the Church!

We went to the Eggs Over Yuma event. There was more people than they expected. You could tell that. My daughter did not get a single egg while another girl had 1/2 pillowcase full. How was that far? The look on my daughters face almost broke my heart. My two younger nieces did not far any better. My youngest niece was knocked down and the egg she had picked up was lost. Need alot more volunteers. Parents were on the field grabbing eggs.

I totally agree with you, my mom and I decided to take our kids, we were in the heat for three hours. My mom stayed with the child in the walking age group, I stayed with my 8 year old and had to leave my two girls in the 9-12 group alone. That being said , My 8 year old was up front, standing there being patient for almost 2 hours, as the time got closer they asked the parents to move back and let the kids stay up front, so I did. but none of the parents moved. I could go on and on, but I wont. Needless to say, people kept pushing my child back. He ended getting pushed and got one egg, My daughter in the 9-12 group got pushed down and someone stomped on her stomach she got one egg, my other daughter in the same group got nothing. what was suppose to be a fun day turned to misery with three crying kids.. I never taken my kids to any of the public egg hunts, but with all the advertisment of this event it was obvious my kids were excited about the hunt. Shame on all those parents and older kids that broke the rules...nothing is worse than your child being abused.

My kids were so excited! Waited very patiently for almost two hours for them to get the okay to go out on the field. The okay NEVER came and still the field was all of a sudden filled with kids and PARENTS! My 7 year old got 3 eggs and my 5 year old got 0. Very sad expience. Rude adults! and Rude children!

Cool photo..sorry to hear people were rude. Each child should at least get one egg. should have made the parents stay off the field I guess.
