This is a large bird in the cuckoo family. A number of females lay their eggs in one nest, then share incubation and feeding. A female can lay up to 7 eggs, and as many as 27 eggs have been found in one nest. Generally, not more than ten survive. This species runs well and usually feeds on the ground, taking termites, large insects, lizards and frogs.
