Finally it was warm enough last night to go mothing in Larose Forest, which four of us did and saw a number of different moth species. After 8 months of waiting for the weather to warm up, we were delighted to see such species as this one. The Rosy Maple Moth is in the Giant Silkworm Moth family (Saturniidae) but is nowhere near as large as most of the other species in that family. The colour is variable and generally up this way we see the paler versions as here.
