Blister beetle (Tricrania sanguinipennis)

Reveler Conservation Area

This pretty red blister beetle is a parasitoid of colonial bees such as the Colletes bee. They lay their eggs in bee's nests. This photo shows a female heavy with eggs. Nearby was a small colony of Colletes bees. There were several of these beetles wandering around the bee nesting site.
