I lifted up a small piece of wood and found this very large pupa (nearly 2 inches) underneath. It was in a shallow depression in the soil. I lifted it out for a better look then put it back under the wood. It appears to be the pupa of one of the Giant Silkworm Moths, perhaps the Rosy Maple Moth?
