Leonard's skipper (Hesperia leonardus)

Marlborough Forest

These are late summer butterflies and I had no sooner finished saying to a friend that it would be great to see a leonard's skipper, than this one appeared! The only one we saw the entire day.

Great to see these guys. We were at Bill Mason Center two weeks ago looking for them but we might have been too early.
