Leafhopper, newly emerged adult (Jikradia olitoria)

Reveler Conservation Area

Previously called Coelidia olitoria. At the bottom of the photo you can see the exuviae, or shed skin, of this newly emerged leafhopper. You can see where the skin has split and the adult crawled out through the head. These white wings are very fragile at this stage and the adult cannot fly. But soon the wings will harden, change colour, and the adult will change quite dramatically into this: http://www.pbase.com/laroseforest/image/126752540 It is worth checking out this link because the change is so remarkable, you'd never believe that one can change to the other!
