Eastern tailed blue (Cupido comyntas)

Reveler Conservation Area

A widespread butterfly, ranging from Costa Rica north through Canada, according to the information in "Butterflies of Ontario" by Peter Hall, et al. Peter also notes that only 15 years ago this was rare in the Ottawa region and is now locally common.

I love the little blues with their subtle tones, dots and dashes and orange-edged spots; this is an absolutely superb close-up of one.

Wow, you nailed this one very well! Love the blue butterflies but due to the drought over here there is lack of food for them and I found very few this Year. V
