Bent-line gray (Iridopsis larvaria), #6588

Reveler Conservation Area

This small colourful Geometrid caterpillar was eating common buckthorn, one of our most destructive invasive plants. It would be great to think that something could be used to bio-control buckthorn, but in fact various creatures do feed on it, but it would take millions to make a dent!

Good to see it's helping to control the plant, and a great capture of it hard at work. V.
