The Virginia Ctenucha moth is abundant right now. This striking day-flying moth has been emerging for several weeks, and is still doing so. There are quite a few cocoons on grasses, wildflowers, etc., some empty, some not yet opened, as here. To see the adult moth http://www.pbase.com/laroseforest/image/117030426/original. By the way, I didn`t open the covering... that is how I found it.
