This member of the tomato family is a climbing vine, native to Europe but common here alongside trails and waste places. It also goes by the name Deadly Nightshade and Bittersweet. The flowers are a pretty purple and yellow. Tortoise beetles are often attracted to this wild plant as are potato beetles.
