Asian lady beetles (Harmonia axyridis)

There are three lady beetles in this shot and a fourth one just above and out of the photo. They are very interested in, and one is eating, the woolly alder aphids, which are those white fuzzy things clustered on the bottom of an alder sapling. Despite the gray weather and cool temperatures (+5), these insects were active. I saw them in the same spot a few days ago too.

My Motherinlaw's house was full of the Asian Lady Beetles while we were visiting Michigan. They wanted to come inside to get out of cold weather. Good close up here. V

Great to get a shot of them eating - something I've not seen.
