In one end out the other: Evening primrose moth caterpillar (Schinia florida), #11164

Larose Forest. There were scores of these caterpillars on the evening primrose plants (Oenethera biennis) along the trail. They are very artful mimics of the seed pods. As they are seed eaters, you can see in this shot that the caterpillar has chewed into the pod and will soon chew all the way down until the seeds can be reached. As it eats, so it deposits frass.
