Rockcliffe Park. There was a flock of cedar waxwings devouring the buckthorn fruit. Not much else was available for them, so this was clearly a treat. The buckthorns, both Glossy and Common, are non-native shrubs, that are aggressively invasive, forming dense thickets where nothing else can grow. However, on the upside, they feed a great number of birds when little else is available. On the downside, the birds are responsible for spreading the seeds!
