Uncles

Yes, at Christmas there were always Uncles, and also Aunts, perhaps an Auntie Hannah "who liked port, stood in the middle of the snowbound back yard, singing like a big-bosomed thrush." From "A Child's Christmas in Wales" by Dylan Thomas. For me, Christmas is not complete without a reading of this wonderful poem.

What a great memory! I've never heard of this one. My favorite Christmas story has always been the Selfish Giant by Oscar Wilde. V
