Sawfly larva (Dimorphopteryx sp.)

Larose Forest. This is an interesting looking little sawfly larva, distinctive with its "fringe" around the body. According to Steve Marshall, the "tubercle behind the head" pops out when the larva is disturbed. This was found on a speckled alder.

Captured nicely, just about perfect camouflage on the leaf.
