Sheep sorrel (Rumex acestosella)

The sheep sorrel is a European plant, long ago introduced to this part of the world. Looked at from a distance it is rather insignificant, but looked at up close, the flowers are very pretty and intricate. The leaves were used in salads as they have a sharp lemony taste. Early settlers would have welcomed this after a long winter with no fresh greens (no supermarkets in those days!).

I have never seen sorrel before, and it's quite fascinating! The color and your composition are just excellent. V.

This plant is also a weed in temperate south-eastern Australia; I remember it well from the days when I lived there. Didn't realise it was edible, though.
