Velvet mite with, possibly, a Small Winter stonefly (Capniidae)

Found under leaf litter on a south facing slope where snow had melted from a patch of ground. The velvet mite is big (for a mite... a few mm), so you can see, the insect is pretty darn small. The mite has got hold of this poor thing and is not letting go. The good folk at Bug Guide have tentatively identified the insect as a Small Winter Stonefly in the Family Capniidae. According to Bug Guide, they are often seen on snow, hence giving rise to another common name, Snowflies.
