Mosquito larvae

These were photographed in a vernal (temporary) pool in Larose Forest. Mosquito larvae are abundant in most of these little temporary water holes, but they are eaten by any number of other critters.

Some do survive and turn campers into non-campers. I speak from personal experience:))

Fascinating and unusual capture, but the more that are eaten, the better! V.

I don't think I have ever seen them until after they hatch and do that spastic movement in the water. Nice find!
