Bur oak gall

This gall reminds me of a bird's face! The hole is either an opening made by the inhabitant getting out, or a hole made by a parasite getting in. And though Cynipid wasps, probably Disholcaspis
quercusmamma, are the ones who create these galls, they may not be the insect leaving, as they are readily parasitized by other wasps.
