Black swallowtail (Papillio polyxenes), male

Photographed at the Burnt Lands Provincial Park. There were about five of these large beautiful butterflies around but only this one landed long enough for a shot.

Unfortunately Swallowtails are instinct in this country. I would love to see them. This is a beautiful specimen and a beautiful shot.
