Trillium, painted (Trillium undulatum)

A native species of trillium, much smaller than the familiar white trillium (T. grandiflorum), and perhaps because of its size, often overlooked. However, in Larose Forest, where this photo was taken, it is very common at this time of year, and is the emblem used on the Larose Forest boundary signs.

Very pretty. We have one red trillium that comes up every year in the field. I wish it would spread!
