This chipmunk ran when it saw Sasha and I walking through the woods, but it soon stuck its head out of the burrow and had a good look at us. You can see from the blob of dirt on his nose that he has been rooting around in the soil. This unusual (I am tempted to say, abnormal) weather has all sorts of creatures popping out of winter rest. Our normal temperatures for March are lows of -8 celsius and highs of +3 celsius, and yet today it +14 and tomorrow and for the next few days, the forecast is for +23c, and close to that for the rest of the week. Shattering all kinds of old records!
