Blue-eyed grass (Sisyrinchium)

A beautiful little native flower that is not a grass at all but is actually in the Iris family. Presumably it was given this common name because the leaf looks a lot like a blade of grass. It can be found in late spring through summer, growing in open sunny sites, sometimes in small groups, sometimes in quite large clusters, but always one needs to look closely to see how pretty it is.

A tack sharp BEAUTIFUL superbly framed macro image Christine. I never realised the beauty of a single flower of these. Your image sure brings out that beauty.
