Ice along the Ottawa River

These great chunks of ice have been pushed close to shore along Petrie Island. With the thaw and freeze cycle we've had of late, this kind of scene is common. The river right now has only a thin layer of ice on it, with open patches of water. Not a good idea to walk out on that!

Beautiful winter image! We have only a thin film of ice on our lake and no snow so far! V

I love the look of frozen water in winter and this is no exception. The ice colors are so beautiful framed by the clouds and soft blue sky.

Nice illustrative photo...like the branches too. We've had about the same in Wisconsin. This is the latest I can remember for our lakes to freeze (they are still open here) also the only ice is along the shore, where the wind (30-40mph last night) has blown the water up on the rocks. The water hasn't turned over yet on the more tranquil large bodies of water. Happy New Year to you and yours.
