Upland white aster (Solidago ptarmicoides)

This aster is really a goldenrod! It used to be called Aster ptarmicoides, but was moved into the Solidago genus in recent years after taxonomists reclassified it. There is a weevil in the top right part of the cluster and another down toward the lower left.

Are you sure? ;-) I know you are, I'm just remembering about what I've learned about asters from you. Thanks for this interesting tidbit. V

Now, I know what these wildflowers are called. Believe it or not, as prolific as they are, I never did before. And interesting that it's a golden rod and moved to a different genus. The photo is beautiful and detailed and love that you caught a little visitor too. V.
