Velvetleaf seedpod (Abutilon theophrasti)

A non-native annual species, that is considered a noxious weed in many areas because it invades crop fields and once there is extremely difficult to eradicate. It is, however, a very beautiful plant. Here, it is growing at Beechwood cemetery, where it is not likely to do any damage.

So pretty, could be a jeweled pin or a little cloche hat to wear askew!

Wow, there is no way I'd consider that a weed. Beautiful photo and plant. V.

It is a lovely specimen. Kind of like a poppy seed head or a piece of candy.
I see it has a buttercup like flower and can grow where I live although I have not noticed it. You have photographed it beautifully.
