Another view of this small but colourful sawfly. It was in Larose Forest, underneath a pine stand. When many sawfly larvae are disturbed, they either throw their heads back like this one, or wave their rear ends in the air.
Sawflies are NOT FLIES! They are actually in the order Hymenoptera, wasps, bees, etc.
